16 Week Update

Friday was our 16 week check up at the doctor. Baby is 6 oz in weight and baby and mom are both doing well. We heard a very strong, "happy" heartbeat (as the doctor put it) and then got another look at the baby. The baby even gave us a really good look at "her" bottom! Yes... the sonographer said she was 100% sure we are having a baby girl! We are scheduled for another sonogram on 8/20 so we will verify it then, but the photo below looks pretty convincing! We are both very happy and will share more updates later!

Cute little profile :)

Here you can see the rib cage. At one point during the sonogram she was opening and closing her mouth which the lady said means she was drinking. You could even see that her stomach was full. Technology is so amazing!

Here is the picture of her bottom. The arrow points to 3 small lines that indicates it is a girl

We Are Expecting!!

We are very excited to announce that we are expecting our first child! Estimated due date is January 2, 2010! So I guess you could say we are officially a "baby blog" :) Below is our 12 week sonogram which was really amazing to see since it's the first real picture we got to see of our little peanut. We are just under 15 weeks along now and have our 16 week appt. next Friday. The morning sickness has subsided and some of the fatigue so am happy to be well into the second trimester. We will continue to post regular updates and pictures as we get them. Make sure to check back in a few weeks for the announcement of whether it's a boy or a girl!:)

Happy 4th of July!

We hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th of July. We just returned from the long weekend spent with Stef's family and some friends in Wisconsin. Every year they put on an annual 4th of July party complete with our own fireworks display and bon fire at dusk. This is the 3rd year in a row we have gone and each year it gets better. We had a wonderful time seeing everyone and the weather was really great... low humidity and we actually got to sleep with the windows open! Although we didn't get any pictures of the beautiful fireworks display Brothers Bob and Pete put on, we did take some others. Thanks to everyone for such a great weekend.
We love you all!

Todd being woken from a little nap by brother Bob who every time we go has Bud Light items for him... They have a bit of a war going on between them... Miller Light for Bob and Bud Light for Todd... it's quite amusing :)

This little guy is the newest addition to the Ahner family. He is 4 months old and his name is Rudy. He is honestly the cutest puppy ever! He loves to snuggle and have you pick him up. He was a bit confused at all the people coming and going from the house over the weekend, but he did really well. We love you Rudy!

Todd made good friends with Rudy :)

Friday night we went to this micro brewery called the Great Dane Pub. It's kind of a Madison tradition.

This picture is kind of dark but it's brother Bob and niece Sophie. All the kids are getting so grown up. The youngest is now 11!

The boys played several games of Corn hole. Damon and Todd competing here.

Happy Summer!

I thought it was time we checked in to our blog since it's been since March! Wow... how time flies. We wanted to wish everyone a happy and healthy start to your summer. The Alt household has been very busy. Unfortunately I've been very bad at taking pictures lately, but we have some fun things coming up this summer so be sure to check back after the 4th of July for more updates :)

Trip to Nashville, TN

Below are some pictures of our recent weekend spent with friends in "Music City!" Damon and Brenda drove up from Atlanta and met us there for the weekend. We had so much fun and fell in love with the city. On any given day at any given time you can pretty much find really talented music artists playing just about everywhere. We visited the Country Music Hall of Fame, walked through Music Row, saw many different bands, visited the infamous Bluebird Cafe and even ended up partying with a country music celebrity one night! (you'll see who in the photos below) It was a blast and I know we will go back!

Elvis' gold piano in the Country Music Hall of Fame

The Country Music Hall of Fame walls are covered in these Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum records. It was amazing to see how many albums these artists have sold.

Our hotel, which was the old Union Train Station... it was very quaint and full of history. We would highly recommend this place to stay. It's also in the heart of downtown Nashville and within walking distance to all the night life.

We must have walked what seemed lik 100 miles one day just checking out the city.

Damon getting a little happy :)

One night while at a bar watching a band, Cowboy Troy walked in and ended up standing and partying right next to us. We talked to him and promised to catch his show the next time he plays in Tampa. He was a really nice guy and very happy to take photos with his fans. It was a fun treat!

Having lunch one day at a place called the Flying Saucer. They had like 300 beers on tap and our favorite item on the menu was their hot Belgian Pretzel with warm queso for dipping. YUMMM! They came out piping hot and melted in your mouth. Our waitress here was from Tampa as well and moved to Nashville for the music industry. It seemed like everyone we talked to was there to make it in the music industry. There really was so much great talent!
If you are not familiar with this place you have to look it up online and check out it's history. It is a small restaurant type place with a stage and a bar where only invited artists may perform original songs acoustically. They are all singer/songwriters. They only have 21 tables and on the night we went it was first come first serve. We waited outside about half an hour before getting a perfect little table. They have a very long list of huge country music names that have performed in this place before making it big. They also have open mic night, which many places in Nashville do, but we didn't go that night.

Trip to Cancun, Mexico

Fun, fun story this is... we were invited by our friends Damon and Brenda to celebrate Damon's 40th birthday with them in Cancun. Well, we decided to tell them we were unable to go and then proceeded to surprise him by showing up. Well, long story short we pulled it off! Damon was very surprised and so were my sister Kirsten and her husband Bob (who also joined us). We had a wonderful time with 5 solid days of sunshine! We ate a lot, drank plenty of cerveza and enjoyed great company with our friends. I would say the TWO highlights of the trip were surprising Damon in the hotel Lobby and our swim with the Dolphins! I also don't want to forget to mention that we stayed at the Cancun Palace. It was wonderful! Very clean, modern, spacious rooms, excellent food and drinks, relaxing spa and a beautiful infinity pool. We would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Todd's disguise at the airport so Damon wouldn't recognize him too soon! Yes... he has hair!

Todd, Bob and Damon letting the ocean beat them up some. It was very windy so the surf was high.

Day one.. already double fisted! Dos Equis anyone??

We saw this amazing sunset right from the balcony in our room.

Disney Princess Half Marathon

On Sunday I completed the Disney Princess Half Marathon with some friends. (That is 13.1 miles for you non-runners.) It was a women's race at Disney in Orlando with over 6,000 participants! The weather was beautiful and we all finished healthy :) My time was 2:39:35 and I was still smiling at the end :) Way to go to all the girls! We'll have to do it again next year.

This was the banner sign at the Expo where we went on Saturday to pick up our race packets.

Four of the "Princesses"- Charolette, Stef, Wendy and Brenda at the finish line. The medals were a princess tiara shape and even have crystals in them. Very cute and VERY Disney!

Charolette, Stef and Brenda back at the hotel to take muchly needed showers :)
